Evansville Christian School has been through several “seasons” in its 40+ year history as we have seen God’s hand guide our ministry. In the initial season, our focus was on laying a firm foundation for our school and developing a culture of academic excellence with an integrated Biblical worldview.
Our second major season was developing ECS as an independent, Christian school and creating a new identity in the community. This included the creation of ECS as a 501(c)3 corporation; establishing an independent, parent-led board of directors; and opening multiple campuses in partnership with Bible-believing churches. These strategies positioned ECS for its third major season – a season of growth which has seen ECS become one of the largest PK-8th grade Christian schools in the country.
As we have grown and expanded relationships, we believe God is positioning us for a new and exciting season, including the launch of a Christian high school. Today, we have more than 630 students enrolled, including 5 kindergarten classes and six 1st grade classes. As a result, we have the foundation in our lower grades for continued growth and impact. What an awesome privilege and responsibility as we partner with parents to shape young lives!
Through each season of ECS’ history, we have never wavered from our foundation integrating educational excellence and faith. Further, God has provided the leadership and staff to accomplish His work. We have been blessed by the long tenure of some staff and have seen others join our team as we have need. Now, we believe that it is time to align our leadership team/structure to accomplish the work that we believe God has called ECS to do. Click here for information on our Strategic Plan.
We are excited to report that our School Board has approved the transition of Mike Allen to become ECS’ Head of School (HOS) effective July 1, 2015.
This plan has been in place since Mike joined our team two years ago; and, with prayerful discernment, we believe it continues to unfold as the right direction for our school. Mike will serve as HOS, as well as our 6th-8th grade principal. Under Mike’s leadership, Susie Masterson will serve as our PK-5th grade principal and Scott Winslow will continue to serve as our Chief Operating Officer.
Paul Bair will transition to a new role as Director of Advancement. Under Mike’s leadership, Paul will work with Krista Decker in the areas of marketing, admissions/enrollment, external relationships, and fundraising. Paul and Mike will also focus on the launch of our high school.
We will share this information again at Back-to-School Night. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact Mike or Paul. Please keep Mike, our administrative team, and the transition in your prayers!
