Preschool & Pre-K

Play-based & Christ-centered

ECS offers full-day classes at our Crossroads Campus inside Crossroads Christian Church. Classes have a maximum of 16 students with a teacher and an assistant as well as additional campus support staff and administration. Our student-to-staff ratio at the Crossroads Campus is 5:1. Our campus is highly secure, and parents often speak of how safe they feel sending their children to ECS. In addition to physical safety, we are committed to ensuring every child feels socially and emotionally safe at school as well. Before and after school care is available for a fee at our Crossroads Campus from 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten students experience the benefits of an intentional learning environment that promotes age-appropriate academic, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. Students develop skills and engage in literacy and math activities daily, as well as “specials” class with a rotation of art, music, PE, and library. The full-day format also includes morning and afternoon recesses, lunch time, nap/rest time, enrichment activities, and a discovery zone.

It is our policy that all students are independent in the restroom. This requires the ability to communicate, have muscle awareness, hand-eye coordination, and gross motor skills. All of these are readiness skills necessary for learning within the classroom.

Preschool (age 3 by August 1st)

Preschool at ECS strives to create a positive environment that inspires children to be creative and imaginative, recognizing each child as a precious gift created by God. Students explore learning concepts through purposeful play and hands-on structured and non-structured activities in literacy, math, Bible, art, and music.

Pre-Kindergarten (age 4 by August 1st)

At ECS, students are preparing for kindergarten through strategic learning experiences led by passionate teachers in a Christ-centered environment. Whether students are learning about math or music, they are taught from a Biblical perspective, fostering spiritual development in an age-appropriate way.

The core content in Pre-Kindergarten, with a focus on phonics-based language and comprehensive math concepts, are taught daily. Students explore learning concepts through purposeful play and hands-on structured and non-structured activities.

Our curriculum is aligned with, and exceeds Indiana’s Early Learning Foundations with an integrated Biblical worldview. The age appropriate curriculum nurtures academic growth and self confidence, encourages personal responsibility and making good choices, builds positive social skills and friendships, focuses on academic, social, and emotional readiness, and reinforces the values taught at home.

Evansville Christian School’s Preschool (PS) and Pre-Kindergarten (PK) offerings serve as foundational academic programs for our successive grade levels. As a PS-12th grade organization, ECS is exempt from childcare licensing as defined by the exemptions set forth in Indiana code (See IC 12-17.2-2-8). ECS does, however, ensure a quality program aligned to ACSI, AdvancED, and Indiana state requirements with regard to programming. In addition to a full accreditation review every 5 years, ECS staff receive ongoing training, which demonstrates the commitment to self-monitoring for compliance in all applicable areas of ACSI, AdvancED, and Indiana accreditation standards.
