Our Spanish curriculum includes all students in 1st through 6th grade, as well as an elective for 7th and 8th grade. The Spanish classes are taught by a licensed teacher. We also offer an after school Spanish club.
The elementary students learn about the Spanish culture and language through a wide variety of activities, including games, crafts, videos, books, and more. We work to build fluency through practicing common, every day questions and answers. We also work on the basics of vocabulary such as numbers, colors, family members, days of the week, months, clothing, animals, and much more!
In 7th and 8th grade, the students continue to build fluency through practicing every day in class. The students also work on cultural awareness through completing a variety of projects and interviewing native speakers. Other highlights include a trip to see a Hispanic program and eating at an authentic Mexican restaurant. 7th and 8th grade students who take Spanish I and II, and earn an A or a B, will receive credit for high school Spanish I.
